Das Finanzsystem ist nicht sehr entwickelt, aber es gibt schon Filialen von internationalen Geldtransferunternehmen (wie Western Union). Bringen Sie jedoch keine Schecks oder Kreditkarten mit. Der Internetgebrauch ist verbreitet und man findet überall günstige Internetkaffees.

Das Wetter in Damaskus ist ausserordentlich gut, durchschnittlich 320 Sonnentage sprechen für sich. Im Winter kann es dennoch ziemlich kalt werden (kalt, aber trocken und sonnig) und die Sommer sind heiss (35°C, aber trockenes Klima, somit locker auszuhalten). Die angenehmen Jahreszeiten (Frühling und Oktober) sind lang und schön.
